Irina Goundareva, a UVic alumna, contracted meningo-encephalitis in Mexico a month ago. She spent 3 weeks in a hospital in Queretaro, Mexico, but her condition hasn’t improved much. The Government of Canada loaned Irina’s family $35,000 to hire a private Mexican Ambulance plane to bring her back to Victoria. We are asking your help in raising money to pay this loan back as soon as possible. Friends of the family opened a special non-profit account at CIBC hoping that there will be people wishing to help.
